4. Medical Service Committee
" Understanding o f D eath’’ was the to p ic o f a
seminar sponsored by the Medical Service Com m ittee.
We all face death. The seminar tried to help Christians
come to a clearer understanding of the meaning o f life
and death, to be conscious o f and to cope w ith the
experience o f dying, and to explore ways o f honouring
the dead.
On A p ril 2, 1977 a group o f about one hundred
met at the United Christian Hospital fo r this seminar.
There were lay persons, medical and health workers,
pastors, social workers, and seminary students.
Seminar on "Understanding o f D e a th "
T w o action grew o u t o f the seminar. One, the
Medical Service C om m ittee is focusing its concerns on
some recom m endation received fro m the participants
and looking fo r ways to im plem ent them . Second:
the com m ittee w ill sponsor a fo llo w -u p seminar on
"D eath and the Caring C o m m u n ity” . This seminar w ill
be held on 2nd July 1977.
