7. O ur Lei Cheng Uk F riendly Centre provides services
to more than 2,000 people each m onth through Re-
creation, Club G roup Services fo r children, yo u th and
adults; Detached W ork to those w ho by themselves
w ould no t join us as they are in contact w ith yo u th at
risk; a Libra ry w hich caters fo r the people living in this
area. C o m m unity Developm ent is being practised in a
variety o f ways. In the past year, much emphasis has
been put on "B lo c k W ork D evelopm ent’’ which is tryin g
to stim ulate local residents pa rticip ation in affairs
affecting the ir livelihood, to encourage better under-
standing, cooperation and cohesion among residents
fo r the solution o f com m on problems.
8 . A b o u t 200 people received services from our Clinical
Psychologist. They include: Assessment, Individual
Therapy, Therapeutic Groups, consultation to other
departm ents and other agencies. In the fu tu re , our
psychological service w ill try to move more and more
from a remedial level to therapy and prevention.
9. O ur Medical and Dental C linic provides comprehension
health services to underprivileged patients at very
reduced cost. The m o n th ly average num ber o f tre a t-
ments at the Medical C linic is about 1,400 and about
700 at the Dental C linic. A n Eye C linic has recently
been opened jo in tly sponsored by us and the Hong
Kong Eye Bank.
10. O ur Crafts D epartm ent enables some 200 fam ilies and
individuals to earn their own living. Due to the chang-
ing needs and the w ithdraw al o f providing godown
space fo r volun ta ry agencies by G overnm ent, our
M aterial Relief Section o n ly helps about 120 fam ilies,
