40 children, disabled and/or m entally retarded, are
being served in our Pui Oi Special T raining Centre,
Tsuen Wan. Besides the regular training programme,
a part-tim e social w o rker is assigned to the Centre
to provide social w o rk services to the children and
parents.
The m em bership o f the Tsimshatsui Young People’s
Centre has continued to increase and now stands at
1,400. In order to cope w ith the changing needs in our
area, the Centre is planning the fo llo w in g new services:
— Club G roup Service fo r W orking Y o u th and
"W h ite Collar W orkers" in the Tsimshatsui and
Y aum ati districts;
— A "Y o u th Guidance P roject" ;
— A "C o m m u n ity Developm ent Project” at Canton
Road Police M arried Quarters;
— A "S tu d y Gentre fo r C h ild re n "
1,400 young men and women are enrolled in 16 d iffe r-
ent courses at our K wun Tong V ocational Training
Centre. We are n o t o n ly providing them w ith a useful
skill bu t also tryin g to develop a sense o f good citize n -
ship. D uring the year 1976/77 a m ore active p a rtic i-
pation o f the students in co m m u n ity affairs was ob-
served. In a d dition, a S tudent U nion was form ed under
the guidance o f social workers and teachers. Teaching
facilities are under constant review and are im proved
wherever possible. A new ro o fto p playground w ill be
constructed in the near fu tu re fo r w hich the funds were
granted by Governm ent.
