DIVISION OF SERVICE
1. Hong Kong Christian Service
The year o f 1976/77 fo r Hong Kong Christian
Service was a year o f consolidation and preparation fo r
new developm ent.
Much emphasis has been p u t on staff develop-
m ent. The success o f a social w elfare programme itself
depends upon the use o f personnel as instrum ents fo r
achieving the organisational goals and objectives. The
q u a lity o f services is greatly determ ined by the q u a lity
o f its personnel, hence, the sta ff developm em t p ro -
gramme is o f greatest significance. A tw o-day seminar
was held on Novem ber 26th and 27 th, 1976, to talk
about the fu tu re d irectio n, hopes and expectations fo r
the agency, its in stitu tio n s and projects. The participants
as a group then listed the issues and problem s which
may prevent us fro m realising our vision o f the future .
A t the close o f the consultation proposals and tactics
were form ulated bringing us nearer to our goals and
objectives.
A m o n th ly newsletter is published and distributed
to all staff members, com m ittee members and friends
o f Hong Kong C hristian Service. The purpose o f the
newsletter is to prom ote a team s p irit among staff
members, to fa cilitate com m unication among depart-
ments and to keep us inform ed o f im p o rta n t o fficia l
and personal events.
A series o f short-term staff developm ent courses
ranging fro m M ental Health, C hild Behavior to Pro-
gramme Evaluation are scheduled fo r our co-workers.
