7. Inter-Church Aid
A nother task fo r the Division o f Service is to
prom ote and to facilitate inter-church assistance both
local and abroad. For exam ple we regularly purchase
pharmaceutical and other medical equipm ent and sup-
plies fo r medical proposes in Bangladash and Burma
where such suppies are d iffic u lt to obtain. Also, we
help local churches and Christian organizations to
seek financial support fo r new projects fro m overseas
organizations. On behalf of the Am erican Consulate
General in Hong Kong, we serve as the con tra ctor to
allocate funds to subsidize several developm ent pro-
jects. D uring the year, the Council allocated a to ta l
sum o f H K $ 60 0,000.00 to a num ber of local service
organizations and churches fo r carrying o u t a variety
of creative and pioneering social service programmes,
also the Council handle around one m illio n dollars
H.K. fo r purchasing various materials fo r needs in
Indochina and Bangladash.
