A nother  vital,  b u t  often  unnoticed  service  to   the  total
             Christian  com m u nity  is  the  broadcast  liaison  and  recording
             services  carried  on  at  the  A V E C   recording  centre.  This
             serves  both  the  Roman  Catholics  as  w ell  as  the  Protestant
             fellowships.  Day  in  and  day  o u t  through  o u t  the  year,  the
             W ord  o f  God  through  Christian  witness  is  prepared,  sent  to
             the  broadcasting  station  and  spoken  to  the  w hole co m m u n ity
             o f  Hong  Kong  —  in  both  Chinese  and  English  over  Radio
             Television  Hong  Kong.  Hundreds  and  thousands  in  Hong
             Kong  -  as  w ell  as  in  the  neighboring  province  -  hear  the
             W ord  o f  God  regularly  because  o f  the  steady,  dedicated
             stewardship   o f  the  Christian   Council's  com m unications
             departm ent.
                  The  department  conducted  6  training  courses  during
             the  year.  These  offered  training  in  film   projection  and  Super
             8  film   production.  A   w orkshop  on  Shadow  Play  production
             was  offered  during  the  visit  of  the  Korean  Drama  G roup
             in  May.

                  Hop  Yat  Church  Hong  Kong  utilized  the  department’s
             recording  and  production  services  to   produce  cassettes  cele-
             brating  the  church*s  50th  anniversary.  The  recordings  in -
             cluded  a  choral  service,  a  Thanksgiving  Service  and  three
             devotional  services.

                  The  department  also  participates  in  ecumenical  pro-
             jects  on  behalf  of  the  Christian  Councial.  Two  staff  members
             have  been  named  by  the  Christian  C ouncil,  at  the  invitatio n
             of  the  Roman  C atholic  Diocese  o f  Hong  Kong,  to   serve  on
             tw o   com m unications  com m ittees.  This  continues  the  long
             tra d itio n   o f  ecumenical  w o rk  in  com m unications  w hich  we
             have  enjoyed  in  Hong  Kong.
