3) World Day of Prayer 1975

The World Day of Prayer Committee arranged four services

for the World Day of Prayer. Two services were held at
the Salisbury Road YMCA Chapel at 10.a.m. and 8 p.m.
One at the Chung Chi College Chapel at 8 p.m. The main

service in Cantonese was held at 3 p.m. at the Hong Kong
Chinese Methodist Church in Wan Chai. There were no
                sermons. Singing, slide presentations, interpretive

dance and scripture readings interpreted the theme for
the year "Become Perfectly One (John 17: 23)". The
Swatow Baptist Church also held a service in Swatow

                dialect during the afternoon.

The total collection, after deducting 10% for the Inter-

national Committee of World Day of Prayer, amounted to
HK$2,167.76. This was given to the Hong Kong Christian
                Council's Fund for Famine Relief.

            INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S YEAR

For many years the Council has been interested in promoting

            Church women's work.

                                                                             s
Following the Fifth Aseembly of the Asian Church Women'
Conference held in Bangkok, October 1974 , our delegates who
attended the Conference gathered together to share their
concerns on how to implement the Conference recommendations.

As a result a Committee for the Promotion of the Year of
Women emerged. A list of names representing various denomi-
nations was submitted to the Council's Executive Committee

for endorsement and appointment. To respond to the International
Women1s Year, 1975, the Committee proposed two major emphases:

                     1) to promote the Fellowship of the Least Coin, and
                     2) to provide leadership training programs for women.
