that attempts will be made to recover all or part of
these expenditures through Hong Kong Government sub-
ventions and grants from the Community Chest; and
5) That the Lutheran World Federation, Geneva, in addition
to urging its member churches to continue supporting
the former LWF/WS programme in its bilateral fund-
raising efforts even after 1975, will also make available
to the HKCC a subsidy not exceeding US$200,000 (excluding
the Director's salary, housing allowance and other
benefits now available to him) in two annual installments
of US$75,000 in 1976 and 1977 and a third annual install-
ment of US$50,000 in 1970, these amounts to be spent
for administrative support of the former LWF/WS program
in Hong Kong.
The Executive Committoe carefully discussed the matter at two
executive committee meetings held on April 28 and May 12, 1975.
The Agreement was approved and accepted.
This acceptance expresses the determination of the Council
to be of more effective service to the churches and the people
of Hong Kong. We rejoice in this positive decision. We look
forward to this strengthened ecumenical service outreach which
these added facilities will bring to the service of the Hong
Kong Christian Council.
OUR EMPHASIS
The Committee for the Division of Mission and the Division of
Service had a joint meeting during the year to critically look
into the needs for both mission and service of the church in
Hong Kong. The following four areas of emphasis were the
result of the joint meeting which were later endorsed by the
Council's Executive Committee:
Social Justice
The church has an inescapable responsibility of speaking
the f,Truth,! and bringing justice to the society at all times.
