Inter-Church Aid
There has been an increasing need for the Council through its
Division of Christian Service to provide purchasing and shipping
services for church related organizations out-side of Hong Kong.
During the year the Division has handled a total of HK$262,734.00
worth of equipment and medicine for the Christian Conference of
Asia's Asian Christian Service's programs in Indochina. This
service has also been extended to the Presbyterian Church U.S.
for their new agricultural and medical programs in Bangladesh.
During the year HK$83 ,435.00 worth of equipment including two
automobils, medicine and food had been handled and shipped
through the Division. The Division is in the process cf ex-
ploring with the Christian Conference of Asia and the World
Council of Churches the possibilities of setting up an Asia
Purchasing Office in Hong Kong.
During 1974, as an inter-church aid office, the Division received
and channelled HK$454,626.- for a number of pilot projects related
to members of the Hong Kong Christian Council. These included the
Yang Social Service Center's Community Development program and
Creative Parent/Child Relations experimental project (related to
the Wei Li Kung Hui); Kwun Tong Community Health Center (related
with United Christian Hospital);Neighbourhood Advice-Action
Council's Community Organization in Tai Wan Shan; St. Simon's
Child Welfare Center (Sheng Kung Hui) ; Lady MacLehose Social
Service Center (Sheng Kung Hui); Tai Wo Hau and Kwai Chung
Community Development Project (sponsored, by the Tsuen Yuen Church,
Crown of Thorn Church, Asbury Methodist Church, Salvation Army,
Lutheran Church and Catholic Church in Tsuen Wan); Senior Citizen's
Club (St. Matthew's Church of Sheng Kung Hui); Rebuilding of Choi
Ko Secondary School in Macau (Sheng Kung Hui).
