powdered milk, feeding bottles, diapers, dictionaries and combs
for individual needs. Outings and social activities were also
organized for the refugees.
During the process, regular meetings and consultations
were held with high officials of government and participating
churches.
As of now, with only approximatiely 20 remaining refugees,
our policy is their eventual assimilation into the Hong Kong
community. After consultation, it has been agreed that the
task would be given to the International Social Service office
with needed funds to be met by the Christian Council resources.
The Council has appointed Rev. Li Ping Kwong, Rev. Baldwin Yang,
Rev. Geoffrey Senior, Mr. Alan Liu and Miss Wong Lai Kuen to
administer the programme.
YOUTH & STUDENT MINISTRY
The emphasis of this ministry is leadership training.
This is done by providing educational opportunities for church
youth leaders to participate in local and overseas concerns.
Last summer, a Youth Conference was held on the theme of
the World Council of Churches General Assembly: Jesus Christ
Frees and Unites. In October, a Study Tour to Burma and
Thailand was organized in order to understand the Christian
witness in difficult situations. A prayer service was held in
February to remember the churches in the Philippines in their
struggle for human rights. This was done in cooperation with
our Catholic counterparts.
Other concerns included sending two youth leaders to the
World Council of Churches Assembly as stewards and two local
participants to a youth exchange programme for Holland and
Japan. We also provided short-term placement for the spell
