HONG KONG CHURCHES CARE
The world population explosion9 starvation, drought, serious
shortage of food and natural resources are the urgent concerns of our
world today. The truth is that thousands of people die every day
because of the shortage of food and lack of medical care. The situa-
tion is becoming worse.
Beginning last year the Christian Council appealed to all the
Christians in Hong Kong to face the serious matter of world hunger
and to participate in giving. Good Friday was designated as the day
to remember and to give the cost of one meal for the people who are
suffering from hunger. In 1975 the Christian Community gave over
HK$155,000. Of this amount, the Hong Kong Christian Council received
HK$76,505 ( or US$15,301.00) which was sent to support the following
specific project through the World Council of Churches:
(1) Bangladesh Emergency Flood Relief Program US$ 378.00
(2) Emergency food relief in Bangladesh 3,000•00
(3) Agricultural Programs in Bangladesh 3,000.00
(4) Indo-China Appeal 4 ,000.00
(5) Tanzania 3,000.00
(6 ) For World Hunger 300.00
(7) Emergency in Somalia 1,623.00
US$ 15,301.00
( Or HK$ 76,505.00 )

in Burma, Sri Lanka and Guatemala. We were delighted to know that the
Church of Christ in China (Hong Kong Council) raised HK$112,711.24
(US$23,030.50) which is about a 50% increase over their giving last
year. We rejoice with this good result. Up to the time of the
