train in g to augment th eir academic train in g . The department
has also been invited to help the Lutheran Theological Seminary
for part of the semester to train the seminarians in the area
of special communications. The Council's Communications
Department is happy to be able to undergird the work of its
member churches through the sharing of the skills of its staff
in this way as well as in the service which the Council provides
in its ongoing programme.
7) Studio Improvements:
During this past year, with assistance from the National Council
of Churches U.S.A., the Roman Catholic Church, and designated
funds available to the department, we have been able to activate
the second studio. Now with the additional equipment, totalling
nearly HK$40,000 in cost, we have excellent studios for making
quality commerical recordings. In do this, we are able to earn
more of the needed funds to carry on the programmes of the
department.
8) Cassettes:
"Praise to God in the Highest" : After a long period of
negotiation over royalties, the department was able to produce
cassettes of gospel songs recorded by the well known tenor
soloist; Mr. Frank Huang. The songs include such well known
songs as "How Great Thou Art", "Just a Closer Walk With Thee"
and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness". Those Cassettes are available
through the Chinese Christian Literature Councils Book Store.
The Communications Department does not operate its own program,
but is a supportive office of the Council. Its work takes
many unnoticed forms which assist us all. The translation
system, equipment, advice, repairs ••• all are part of its
involvement with the churches. And these often go unnoticed.
Strangely to say, the better the Communications Departnient
does its work, the less people know that it has been working.
