V . COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT
The Communications Department was formed after the former Audio
Visual Evangelism Committee merged with the council in 1973. Because
of this many may think of its work as only in films. This is but
one of its functions, as you will see.
1) Film and Filmstrip
The Communications Department has published a new Film/Filmstrip
catalogue which is now available. The first copy is free,
additional copies are available at cost - HK$3.00 per copy.
This lists all of the title which are currently available.
Because we are improving the library, some 50 titles have been
removed from the listing. Several new titles have already been
added which had not been in the old catalogue.
The library also includes Super 8 films which are especially
good for children's parties. Since the introduction of these
films, they have proved very popular.
During six months of the past year, the library of films and
filmstrips was used over 800 times, averaging about 5 titles
every day of the week. This means that the libraries are
supporting the daily programmes of many Christian churches and
schools every day of the year. Thousands are reached for the
Gospel through these tools.
With Hong Kong Baptist College, the Communications Department
sponsored an evening's seminar on Film Evangelism with two
visiting specialists. Out of this has grown a renewed interest
by non-Council members in supporting the work of this film
service. Already there have been indications of willingness
by some to help us by contributing new films for the library.
