World  Day  of  Prayer

                       The  W orld  Day  o f  Prayer  this  year  w ith   its
                  theme  "L ove  in  A c tio n ”   was  held  on  March  4,  1977.
                  The   C oun cil’s  com m ittee  sponsored  fo u r  w orship
                  services.  They  were  held  at  the  C atholic  Center  Chapel,
                  K ow loon  U nion  Church,  Chung  Chi  College  Chapel,
                  and  the  Gascoigne  Road  M ethodist  Church.  The  3
                  p.m.  main  service  held  at  the  M ethodist  Church  was
                  attended  by  over  three  hundred  persons  fro m   various
                  denom inations.  The  Rev.  K.  K.  Yung  o f  Hop  Y at
                  Church  Hong  Kong  delivered  the  sermon.  The  offering
                  received   at   the   services   am ounted   to   nearly
                  H K $ 1,340.00.  It  was  given  to  an  agricultural  project
                  in  India,  channeled  through  the  W orld  Council  o f
                  Churches.
                  Joint  Committee  on  Development

                       This  com m ittee  is  form ed  by  representatives from
                  our  Christian  Council  and  the  Roman  C atholic  Diocese
                  o f  Hong  Kong.  We  are  grateful  fo r  the  keen  interest
                  and  support  o f  this  ecumenical  venture  given  by
                  Bishop  G ilb e rt  Baker  and  Bishop  John  Baptist  Wu.

                      The  Commission  on  Society,  Developm ent  and
                  Peace  (SO D EPAX),  fo r  w hich  the  jo in t  com m ittee  is
                  a  local  representative,  has  launched  a  three-year  w o rld -
                  wide  ecumenical  project  e n titled  "T he  Churches  and
                  the  Search  fo r  a  Just  and  Sustainable  S ocie ty."  In
                  response  to  this  our  jo in t  com m ittee  conducted  a
                 Seminar  on  the  theme  "Social  Progress  and  Econom ic
                  D evelopm ent"  on  November  27,  1976.  There  were
