Hong Kong Christian Service has also been actively involved
in recruiting volunteers for Asian Christian Service programs.
During the year two volunteers were recruited to work with Asian
Christian Service in Vietnam. Miss Vera Lee is a nursery worker
and Mr. James Tsui will be responsible for a housing resettlement
and co-operative village project.
For many years Hong Kong Christian Service has been serving
as a contracting agency for the Refugee and Migration Unit of
the American Consulate General. In 1969, the total fund of
HK$293,971.76 (US$48,235) were made available to Counselling
Services-CFSC; Student Aid Project-HKCS-CSWP; Youth Work-HKFYG -
Holy Carpenter Youth Centre; School Aid in Macau and Children's
Meals Society.
In 1969, a total of HK$437,172.00 (US$72,862) were received
from the World Council of Churches and channelled for the
following projects:

DIVISION FOR SPECIALIZED MINISTRIES
The Division for Specialized Ministries recognizes that today's
society is more complex than the simple pre-industrial society,
and that the earlier structure of the Church on a geographical
basis alone cannot meet the needs of such a pluralistic society.
Specialised ministries are necessary in addition to the local
ministry. Rapid industrialization is a key factor in Hong Kong's
life and the specialised industrial ministry therefore has an
important part to play in the Church's task in Hong Kong. This
has been recognized by the establishment of the Industrial Committee
as an operating body.
Family Life Promotion Committee
A Consultation on "Youth and Marriage" sponsored by the Family
Life Committee of the Council was held on 8th May, 1969 at the
Ward Memorial Methodist Church, Kowloon. Father Edward Collins,
a Roman Catholic priest, the Rev. William Tung of the Methodist
Church, and the Rev. John K. C. Ma of the Church of Christ in
