STAFF REPORT
INTRODUCTION
------------ -
One of the famous passages that we have often quoted from the Bible
and which always give us new challenges and new interpretations is
the Gospel according to Matthew 25:34-45. "..... Come, O blessed
of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foun-
dation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was
thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
I was naked and you clothed me, I was in prison and you came to me •••
Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these,
you did it not to me."
The church can never be relevent in any situation and at any time
if she is unable to proclaim the good news and to witness what
she proclaims in action. Evangelism and Service always go hand in
hand. This is clearly identified and witnessed to in the ministry
of Jesus Christ. The function of the Hong Kong Christian Council is
not only to provide fellowship among its member churches or to
promote unity in a narrow sense. It is a place where churches and
Christians can express their concerns, set priorities for Christian
ministries, and voice and carry them out in a united effort.
The following report tells the result of our working together in
the Council. We appeal to the members of the Council for their
increasing support. We count on their guidance and our Lord's
direction.
