Mission and Study
Two seminars were held in connection with the Salvation Today
conference ,in Bangkok. One was preparatory in nature while
the other involved a number of overseas visitors in a r e p o r t
back session.
A committee on laymen from overseas at work in Hong Kong
met regularly throughout the fall. Plans were developed for
a Hong Kong conference, dealing primarily with concerns
related to foreign language churches. Originally scheduled
for May, the conference has b een postponed until the fall.
Representatives of the Division participate in the
preparation of recommendations for the WCC Project List, and
in the setting of priorities. An increasing, number of projects
fall into the category of church development or inter-church
aid.
Conclusion
As we are all aware, the number o f tourists coming to Hong
Kong continues to be very high. There have been a number of
opportunities for the Council through this D i v i s i o n t o h o l d
briefing sessions for groups of overseas tourists. These are:
welcome, and it is hoped that more local churches will invite
representatives of the Council to participate in such sessions,
i n order to promote better understendings of our ecumenical
as well as denominational work.
May I add a personal note. I am grateful for the privilege
of working with the Council and with the churches in Hong Kong
over the past five years. I pray God's richest blessings upon
t he church as they seek to be faithful in mission and in their
relationships with each other. .
