Recently, AVEC also adds a wireless translation system
which could be used for small meetings.
The staff has continued to give guidance and advice on
electronic equipment to schools, churches and individuals.
The workshop still continues to accept equipment for
cleaning and repairing.
In addition, the office is now able to provide for
magnastriping movie films and working on a rear-projection
screen.
4. Broadcasting Department
SEARV - Test programming has been going on for a year.
Each evening from 9 - H standard time on the 31 meter band,
9.750 MHZ, there has been an hour of Mandarin programming
In the year about 12 SEARV listener responses were recieved.
In 1972 a program schedule in operating for the 2nd
quarter of 1972 after the present programs are aired.
Local - There were about 400 Chinese and English programme
units done in the year using over 240 studio hours of time
which means a charge at commercial studios would cost $13,000.
It is hoped that.the local churches will begin to see this as
a valid part of their local ministry and attempt to support
it in a similar way to what the Roman Catholic Churches have
done for 1972.

C. DIVISION FOR SOCIAL SERVICE
The Division for Social Service is concerned with welfare
schemes of all kinds and also with tackling the causes of social
i l l s at the roots.
The United Christian Hospitals
At the celebration marking the laying of the United Christian
Hospital Foundation Stone-laying Ceremony on April 2, 1971, the
Governor of Hong Kong, Sir David Trench, stated:
"It must be most gratifying today for the many people who
have been involved that (the United Christian Hospital)
is at last becoming a reality in spite of the setbacks
