D. DIVISION FOR SPECIALIZED MINISTRIES
The'Division for Specialized Ministries recognizes that;
today’ s society is more complex than the simple pre-industrial
society, and that the earlier structure of the Church on a
geographical basis alone cannot meet the needs of such a
pluralistic society. Specialized ministries are necessary
in addition to the local ministry. Rapid industrialization
is a key factor in Hong Kong's life and the specialised
industrial ministry therefore has an important part to play
in the Church’ task in Hong Kong. This has been recognized
s
by the establishment of the Industrial Committee as an
operating body.
Youth Committee
The Youth Committee of the Council was formed in 1963.
During the past few' years, we had been able to do the- .
following: •
1. Worked out a constitution for this Committee.
2. Called meetings for youth leaders of different
churches to discuss youth problems in Hong Kong and
to make plans for joint efforts in church youth work.
3. Organized local consultations for church youth and
youth workers.
4. Selection of youth delegates to the Asian Christian
Youth Assembly, the EACC Youth Consultations.
5. Organized United Prayer Services for church youth.
6. Sponsored a photo competition on the Hong Kong youth
today.
7. Organized a Youth Rally for all church youth.
8. Acted as host for the EACC Youth Committee Meetings
which met in Hong Kong to make plans for their Hong
Kong Youth Consultation and Training Institutes.
During the year, a Youth Conference jointly sponsored
by the Hong Kong Catholic Youth Council and Youth Committee
and the HKCC took place on Sunday 16th April 1972 from 9:30
a.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Diocesan Youth Centre, Pokfulam Road,
Hong Kong. Theme of the Conference was "Challenge of Joy".

of establishing an Ecumenical Council of Youth. 40 young
people participated.
