                 (2)  To arrange  for payment  cf all charges for  which the  Centre
                       is responsible.

                 (3)  To a rrange  for a special ecumenical library  fund.

                 (4 )  To arrange  for a long term plan for premium provision.

                 (5)  To arrange  for the  investment  of surplus  funds.


                 (6)  To advise the Hong Kong Christian Council Executive
                       Committee  concerning the supervision of the maintenance  care
                       of the  Centre.


                      We are happy to  report  that  during the year,  an increasing
                 number of Christian groups have  come  to use  the  Christian Centre
                 facilities  for holding  consultations  and meetings.  The Ministers
                 and Clergy's  fellowship whose members composed of both Homan
                 Catholics  and Protestants have also  ccrne  to use  the  Centre’s
                 Conference  Room for their regular meetings.  The Department  of
                 Extramural Studies of the  Chinese  University of Hong Hong is
                 also making enquires  for using the  Centre  for their evening sessions.
                 It  is our hope  that this  Christian Centre may  continue  to be  a
                 place  of Christian witness  and service as  well as a Centre  of
                 Christian nurture  in international and interdenominational
                 relations.


            2.  Ecumenical Library  Committee

                      The additional of a Library  within the  Christian Centre  was
                 made possible by a gift  from the Kresge Foundation.  This
                 Foundation generously  donated US$20,000 for the building plus
                 US$10,000 for books  and equipment.

                      It  was  decided by  the  Library  Committee  that  this  Library
                 should provide  materials in limited areas  for use  of the  Church
                 in Hong Kong and by visiting scholars,  bearing in mind material
                 available  in other libraries.

                      A library assistant has been appointed and books are  being
                 ordered,  with the  following order of priority being followed in
                 the initial stages:

                 (a)  Basic  Library tools;

                 (b)  Materials  of the Ecumenical movement  and Inter-church
                       relations;

                 (c)  Materials  for the  work of the various  committees  of the
                       Council;

                 (d)  Materials relevant  to Hong Kogg and the history of the  Church
                       and society in China;

                 (e)  Recent  developments  on Christian mission and Church renewal;
                 (f)  Limited materials relevant to  recent  developments in China.

                      It  was also agreed that  the Library should collect  journals,
                 letters,  diaries and manuscripts  etc.  of historical  importance
                 to bhe history of the  Christian Church in China,  with special
                 reference  to the southern region.

                      The  Library is a reference  library.  Materials may not be
                 taken away  without  special permission.

                      The  donation of  the Kresge Foundation has been allocated by
                 the  Library  Committee  for expenditure  over three years.  Books
                 have been ordered and the  Library is  slowly taking shape.
