up of relationships with those who work in industry and relevant
government departments as well as with the local churches. Among
the many problems and growing points of industry is a concern for
improved relations between management and labour and for some
form of workers' representation. Questions such as these which
are so clearly questions of human relations should concern
Christianso Many, however, are still not clear what the Church's
proper task is in relation to industry, and this must continue
to be demonstrated and interpreted. Much care has gone into this
work of laying foundations of common purpose and understanding.

                 Projects

The following projects are the work of groups of people who
have been stimulated and encouraged to take action in relation
to particular problems and needs of industry:

                  (1) Employment Guidance

Two employment guidance courses for teachers and social
workers have been held, and a continuation committee has been
                        formed.

                  (2) Worker's Education - including T.V. and Radio Course

A TV course on "Metal work tools and their use" has been
completed on HK-TVB. A second series of 12 lessons on
"Elementary Electronics" is scheduled for April. A Radio
series in co-operation with the Government Safety Training
Officer is under preparation. This is only a beginning in
the field of workers' education which we plan to develop.

                  (3) Small Firms' Association

In co-operation with the Roman Catholics, wo have
supplied resource persons to help in the formation of a
credit union for owners of small factories. Hong Kong’s
many small firms could be helped by various forms of
                        co-operation.

                  (4 ) Students-in-industry

A continuing programme of work with students aims to
give, a practical introduction to industry and its questions.
This includes lectures, short introductory seminars and a
one month work-in-industry seminar for selected students.

                  (5 ) Consultations

These include: "Education in a technological society",
"Labour Law” (involving industrial managers) and a day’s
consultation for clergy on "the Church's relevance to industrial
                        society".

                 Contact with the Churches

Invitations to preach and speak in Churches and to meet lay
people and young workers have been welcomed. These have made it
possible for us to share practical planning and preparation for what
is essentially the work of lay people in relating Christian faith
                 and industrial life.

                 Organisation
During the year the Committee has worked out its aims, policy
and constitution, and appointed a Director and Associate Director
                 to execute its work.
In presenting this report we ask for your prayers and support
so that the Church may make its unique contribution at this critical
                 time to Hong Kong’s life.
