8. Youth Committee
The Youth Committoo of the Council was formed in 1963. During
the past few years, wo had been able to do the following:
(1) Work out a constitution for this Committee.
(2) Call meetings for youth leaders of different churches to
discuss youth problems in Hong Kong and to make plans for
joint efforts in church youth work.
(3) Selection of 7 youth delegates to the 1st Asian Christian
Youth Assembly.
(4) Organizing a United Prayer Service for all Hong Kong Church
Youth.
(5) Sponsoring a photo competition on the Hong Kong youth.
(6) Organizing a Youth Rally for all Hong Kong Church Youth.
(7) Acted as host for the EACC Youth Committee Meeting which met
in Hong Kong to make plans for the 1967 Singapore Youth-
Consultation and Training Institute.
(8) Calling a local consultation on youth work. This was held
on Sunday 12th February, 1968 at the Christian Centre with 80
church youth workers participated in the Consultation. The
key speaker was Miss Pamela H. Gruber, Secretary for Youth
Projects, W.C.C. who spoke on the chosen subject: J?The World
Trend of Youth Work.” There were enthusiastic discussions
on the use of more effective methods in the promotion of
youth activities in the churches and the Consultation was
considered very satisfactory.
During the year, Mr. Sang Jung Park, Youth Secretary of World
Council of Churches, paid a visit to Hong Kong
At the present time, the Committee is planning a joint project
with Hong Kong Christian Service, Student Christian Centre, and
some Roman Catholic Youth Organizations for the summer of 1968.
Moreover, the Committee has applied for funds for a small
project by setting up a Youth Work Centre in. order to provide
Audio-Visual aids equipments and other, up-to-date information
about youth work for all youth workers, in Hong Kong.
We are now in the process of looking for a suitable person
whom we could invite to serve as Secretary for youth w rk. We
strongly feel that with the service of a full time or even part-
time secretary, some joint actions can be carried out, and a great
deal more can be done, especially in coodination of youth work among
different churches in Hong Kong.
