COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT
1. South East Asia Radio Voice (SEARV)
A SEARV meeting was called by Mr. Mathew Ogawaa Chairman of
the Asia Region of the World Association for Christian Communication,
which was held in Taipei early in September 1975.
During the meeting, members questioned the value of short-wave
broadcasting. After a long debate and discussion, owing to the fact
that the donor agencies are, in fact, not interested in such a
project, it was decided to close the SEARV Chinese Programming.
2. Local Radio Programs
The Communications Department is the co-ordinator and supporter
of the two government broadcasting and TV Religious Advisory Committees.
i. Chinese programming: This programming is aired over
government owned Radio Hong Kong. It totals 50 minutes
per week and is heard on RHK-2 (FM). There is a half-
hour Sunday Studio Service broadcast in the evening; and
two 10 minute talk programs "Life Abundant" broadcast on
Sunday and Friday mornings. Most of these programs are
produced in the Department's recording studio with no
charge involved.
This Department produced 2 special programs - Christmas
and Easter - upon Radio Hong Kong's request.
ii. English Programming: The English programming totals 3
hours. Of these, 2 hours are aired over RHK-3 (AM) and
1 hour over RHK-4 (FM). These include an one-hour Sunday
Service broadcast, five 15-minute Midday Prayers, a quarter
hour Cross Roads, and quarter hour "The Week Ahead".
