Christian Family Life  Committee


                        The  families in Hong Kong are facing a rapidly changing situation.
                  In this situation,  Christians have a responsibility to help evaluate
                  the changes,  to analize the problems and to suggest how there may be
                  a creative  force  in fulfilling God's plan for families in our City,
                  Hong Kong.

                        During the year,  the Committee held four meetings to discuss family
                  problems in Hong Kong.


                        Family Sunday is the second Sunday in May when special family
                  services are held in many of the churches,  and is followed by Family
                  Week when various family groups meet and have, talks,  films  discussion
                  on the various aspects,  needs,problems of family life in Hong Kong.


                        This year the committee sponsored another consultation.on
                  "Christian Parents in the  '70s".  This will take place on 5th May,
                  1971  at the  Chinese Methodist Church,  Kowloon.  Invitations have been
                  sent to 120 representatives representing 15  denominations.

                        The key note address  will be given  ty Dr.  Chung Kee Wing who wall
                  speak on the subject "Juvenile Delinquency".  This will help to
                  stimulate  discussion in the sessions which followed.

                        Other leaders in the panel discussion include:

                          Mr.  Hui  Ying Fat on "Social Situation in Hong Kong"
                          Miss Ho  Kam Beng on "Child Psychology  and Education"
                          Rev. Ho  Sai Ming on         "Family Education and School Education"

                          A working youth on "Voice of the Working Youth"

                        The findings of the Consultation will be published as a comprehen-
                  sive report in the Chinese Christian Weekly and copies of the report
                  will be  distributed to the  churches for use in follow up work.

                  Christian Centre Management Committee.

                        The  duties of the Committee as assigned by the Hong Kong Christian
                  Council are as  follows:

                        1 .  To arrange  for monthly collection of maintenance fees  from
                             constituent bodies using space in the Centre.

                        2.  To arrange  for payment of all charges for which the  Council
                             is responsible.

                        3.  To arrange for a special ecumenical library fund.
                        4.  To arrange  for a long term plan for premium provision.

                        5 .  To arrange  for the investment of surplus  funds.
                        6.  To advise the Hong Kong Christian Council Executive Committee
                             concerning the supervision of the maintenance care of the Centre.
