              (c) Audio Visual Evangelism Committee
1960"has been another year of much sowing. Tracts have been used
with the films month by month in the prisons and with the film "Some-
thing to Die For". The number of showings was about 800, and the
              estimated audiences about 130,000.

The Audio Visual Evangelism Committee has also loaned out films
from its library to other Eastern countries and has sent films also to
Taiwan for the Committee there. Audio Visual Evangelism Committee's
representation has been enlarged to include two persons from each member
              organization.

The Radio Department of Audio Visual Evangelism Committee has become
more than a dream. The C.C.C. has graciously and gladly granted per-
mission for the part time service of Rev. Sterling Whitener to the
              development of this Radio Department.

                    Radio Studio Project

The EACC has approved the S.E.A. Radio Project and, also, Hongkong
as one of the priority areas for a radio studio, but the S.E.A. Radio
project has been held up due to the request for a further survey of
the overall situation so we have had to concentrate on showing that the
needs of Hong Kong warranted such a Radio Studio.

Instead of a proposed double studio with control room at Morrison
Memorial Centre, we now have a temporary studio there. This is small,
but sound proof and air conditioned. It is planned to produce some
sample tapes that can be used to show what we can do.

              14. Standing Committees

              (a) Ecumenical Scholarship Exchange Committee
Through this Committee's recommendation a full scholarship was
awarded to Mr. Calvin Ngai, a preacher at the Shumshuipo Swatow Baptist
Church, by the Andover Newton Theological School. Mr. Ngai will com-
plete his one year training of theology by September, 1961.

Mr. Isaac Chao of the Lutheran Church was selected as a successful
candidate for the East asia Christian Conference Scholarship. Mr. Chao
is considering attending the Gurukul Lutheran Theological College
              Kilpauk, Madras, India.

The World Council of Churches scholarship scheme, which is ecumenical
and of the same nature as the EACC or CES scholarships, was formally
accepted by the Committee as part of its responsibility in the selection
and recommendation of candidates. Mr. Geoffrey Huang, a graduate of
Chung Chi College and of Union Theological College, was accepted and
              recommended for a WCC scholarship.

              (b ) Christian Citizenship Movement
We have published several booklets on Christian Citizenship. One
of the books is so popular that it is among the best sellers with the
CCLOC. We have from time to time invited church leaders to talk on
Christian Citizenship subjects. During the summer of 1960, we have
had a series of radio talks given by Church and Civic leaders, the
texts of which will be published by CCLOC. A daily citizenship cartoon
was published in the Chinese press and this will be published by CCLOC
in booklet form for local consumption and schools in South East Asia.
The Committee helped to protest against the Football Pools to be operated
in Hongkong and the licensing of additional bars in Kowloon, with great
              success.
