                                       These  Forty  Years

  In  those  days  G od  led  the  people  of  Israel  in  the   and  sisters  w ho  have  endlessly  offered  up  their
  w ilderness  for  forty  years,  giving  them   the  true   prayers  o f faith  and  praise before  God.  B ecause  of
  experience  o f  the  presence  o f  God  and  H is  care.   these  fragrant  offerings,  God  has  also  blessed  the
  B ut  m ore  im portant  still  w as  the  new   hope  that  He   w om en  of  H ong  K ong  in  m any  w onderful  w ays,
  had  given  to  them   as  a  nation:  that  H e  w ho  w as   especially  in  bringing  about  a  positive  change  in
  w ith them  for the past forty years had already given   their social status.  Even in the C hurch,  the position

  the  w ilderness.  F or  forty  years,  G od  had  in  actual   be w ith us in the days to com e as w e face up to  new
  fact  also  perform ed  m any  m iracles  and  w onders  in   challenges.  W ith  1997  approaching,  H ong  K ong
  this sm all land o f H ong K ong.                  people are  experiencing  m ixed  em otions ju st  as  the

   Forty  years  in  the  history  o f the  universe  is  but  a   They w ere joyful because  G od  had  truly  given  them
  blink  o f an  eye.  B ut  it  is enough  for us  as  children   a  land  full  of m ilk  and  honey,  but  shocked  because
   of G od  to  utter  endless  praise  and  thanksgiving  for   from  then onw ard,  they  had to be com m itted to  new
   w hat  H e  had  done.  A s  w e  count  the  blessings  of   challenges.   T he  M anna  in  the  m orning  had
   God,  w hat  has  happened  in  history  has becom e  our   stopped  and  the  quails  in  the  evening  cam e  no

   best  w itness.   D uring  these  forty  years,  God  has
   rebuilt  H ong  K ong,  so  m uch  devastated  by  the  last   boundless  land.  A s  H ong  K ong  faces  1997,  w hat
   W ar,  and  also  relieved  H ong  K ong  from   the   do we see?  A piece o f boundless  land or the  m ighty
   econom ic  depression  o f  the  sixties.   Furtherm ore,   w orks o f God?
   H e  w as  w ith  us  and  got  us  through  the  political
   crisis w hich happened in the eighties.           Prayers  prove  the  presence  o f God.  Praise  tells  us

   For the fact  that  H ong  K ong  has  achieved  so  m uch   the  people  w hom   w e  serve.   T his  is  w hat  the
   today,  we  m ust  give  credit  to  the  m any  thousands   purpose  and  the  spirit  of the  W orld  D ay  o f Prayer
   and  m illions  o f people  w ho  in  the  past  have  given   is.   It  is  through  us,  the  Body  o f  C hrist,
   their love and contributed m uch to this precious and   w orshipping  together,  in  fellow ship,  in  prayer  and
   beloved  land.  O n  top  o f that  and  m ore  rem arkable   sharing,  that  our  eyes  are  constantly  turned  to  see
