October 18 The Commission on Public Policy and the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese Social
Communications Office held a discussion on "Christians and the Development of the
Political System of Hong Kong" at the chapel of the Salvation Army Headquarters to
inquire into the future direction for Hong Kong's political system and Christians'
response.
October 19 In order to promote the Friends of Peace Movement, the Unity Committee
organized "Gather to Sign For Peace" to spread the message of peace through
music.
October 26 The Council and five other religious bodies jointly held a meeting to mark the World
Peace Prayer Day at the Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct in Central in response to
the International Year of Peace.
October 28- The Health Concern Committee organized the Conghua-Hong Kong Medical

November 2 The Commission on Public Policy joined the Joint Coalition for the Promotion of
Democracy and was a signatory to the "Proposal for the Political System for the Hong
Kong Special Administrative Region".
November 6 For four consecutive Thursdays a series of lectures on ‘‘Basic Legal Knowledge
for Pastors" was conducted at the All Saints' Anglican Church.
The Civic Education Reference Bulletin stopped publication after 30 issues due to
financial and personnel reasons.
Ms. Christine Lam represented the Council in the Bangkok Assembly of the Asian
Church Women's Conference which is held once every four years.
November 31 Mr. Philip Lam, an Executive Secretary of the Council, attended the Inter-Church
Aid Conference of CICARWS of the World Council of Churches held in Cyprus. He
was invited to join a group to visit various rural development projects of the Coptic
Church in Egypt.

December 1-2 The Council's staff assisted in the organizing of the Clergy and Ministers' Retreat
which was attended by 10 local clergy.
December 11 The Colloquium of Religious Leaders held its second meeting for 1986.
