May 10-18 Mrs. Rayaan Ma represented the World Day of Prayer Committee in the
Quadrennium of the International Committee for the World Day of Prayer in New York
and the centenary celebrations.
May 23 The Unity Committee held a prayer meeting for South Africa at the Chinese
Methodist Church, Wanchai, and appealed to Christians in Hong Kong to pray for that
country.
The Educational Concerns Committee published an article in Ming Pao to
anticipate the Education Commission no.2 Report.
May 23-27 A photo exhibition by Water Poon on the famine in Africa entitled, " Our World:
Africa, Ethiopia, Sudan", was jointly sponsored by the Five Loaves and Two Fish
Campaign and the Yuen Long Town Hall to raise funds for the Campaign.

June 3-10 Rev. Kwok Nai Wang, the General Secretary, visited North American churches to
discuss matters concerning sharing of resources.
June 9 Mr. Richard Worssam began his three-year appointment with the Council under the
joint sponsorship of five churches and mission societies in the U.K., namely, the
Church Missionary Society, the Methodist Church Overseas Division, the United
Reformed Church, the Church of Scotland, and the United Society for the
Propagation of the Gospel.
June 22- The Friends of Peace Movement of the Unity Committee held a four-part study
July 13 programme jointly with two student groups. The theme was ‘'The Lamentations of
Asian People".
J u ly The Commission on Public Policy and thirty six civic groups formed the Joint
Coalition for the Shelving of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant and organized various
activities in accordance with their aim.
July 21- The " Summer With a Purpose" camp was held at the army's Lo Wu barracks and
August 16 CCC Kei Sun secondary school in Fanling.
A u g u s t In response to the World Council of Churches appeal, the Five Loaves and Two
Fish Campaign launched a project to assist the reconstruction in counties in
Guangdong Province affected by the Typhoon Peggy flood disaster.
