Tsimshatsui Young People’Centre
This Centre was subvented by the Hong Kong government for the purpose of establishing a Y outh Guidence
Project Team which aims at serving young people between the ages of 6-21 who have a tendency to get into trouble.
For the past year, the centre has extended services to the white collar workers and nearby residents as well. In our
centre there were about 1300 members. There was great progress in our youth guidence project too!
Crafts Departm ent
Sales for last year declined considerably. We are considering to close this departm ent in a few m onths' time.

Material Relief
More than 2,000 people are being served annually.

Welfare & Community Departm ent
Case work includes counselling, foster care and school social work. Group work includes groups for the elderly
and for school children. For the past twelve m onths, we have worked with more than 20,000 people.

Day Care Centres
A lot of effort was put into improving the quality of service in these Centres, e.g. closer supervision, establish-
m ent of resource files and new experimental teaching m ethods at the Kwun Tong Centre. One full time social
worker was assigned to work in the three centres.

Pui Oi Special Training Centre
An assistant superintendent was appointed to carry out social work services for trainees and their families. As
of September, 1977, classes were expanded from three to four and an additional instructor was appointed.

Kwun Tong Vocational Training Centre
776 students were enrolled in the day courses and 631 students in the evening courses. Mr. James Atkinson
will retire after this school year. A hearty word of thanks to him for his valuable services to the Centre school over
the past several years.

Lei Cheng Uk Friendly Centre
After being re-organized, the Centre now has three units: Group, comm unity and detached.

Psychological Services Departm ent
This departm ent provides ability and aptitude assessment, individual therapy and health education. 106 cases
were handled during the year.
