FIVE LOAVES AND TWO FISHES MOVEMENT
In order to promote the spirit of sharing and show our concern for others, a fund raising campaign for the
needy people all over the world is launched every year at the beginning of Lent. This year, we raised funds especially
for the victims in South India. Last November, a hurricane struck the place and swept away the lives of twenty
thousand people, also causing extensive damage to the crops and livestock. It is estimated that it will take ten years
to rebuild that place. The affected area is in acute shortage of food, clothing, bedding, vaccine and disinfectants. The
World Council of Churches appeals to churches all over the world to donate to the target sum of U.S.$5,000,000
(about H.K.$25,000,000) to help the victims to rebuild their homes. With the support of the member churches, the
Council has collected the sum of H.K.$61,548. The money has been channelled to the World Council of Churches
as relief funds for the victims in South India.
