PREPARE OURSELVES AND MOVE INTO THE 70'S
Two Executive Staff Retreats were held during the year.
The first one was convened on June 5th - 6th 1969 at the
Morrison House for the purpose of reviewing the Council's
constitution and to recommend necessary changes. In this
lunar age, we need to prepare ourselves and move into the 70's
as faithful servants of the Church in Hong Kong.
The discussion were focused on the following questions:
What is HKCC's relationships with - HKCC herself
- member organizations
- local Christian bodies
- local congregations
- community
- government
- Roman Catholic Church
- Overseas Christian groups
The following suggestion and concerns were shared regarding
HKCC programs and thrusts for the coming 3 years:
1. The Council should develop more seminars and workshops for
both ministers and laity.
2. The Council should help ministers to have a new image of
themselves.
3. The Council should gather information, facts and data about
Hong Kong.
4. Much concern should be given to how the Council could be
closely related to the majority group of ministers who are
being left out and tended to be more conservative and
foundamentalists.
5 . To seek ways and possibilities of working closely with HKCCCU.
6. To assist ministers and church workers through Bibical
commentary, translate meaningful and helpful articles,
inform the ministers on up-to-date theological thinkings;
Christian interpretation on social issues, editorials
through Christian Weekly and other Christian publications.
