IX. RESTRUCTURE OF THE COUNCIL
Since 1964 the Hong Kong Christian Council has been considering
various methods and proposals for a general re-organization.
Beginning in December of 1967, the Executive Committee established
a sub-committee on reorganization which has been meeting and reporting
regularly with proposals for the approval of the Executive Committee.
At the Council's Annual General Meeting held on 13th May, 1968,
the following action was taken:
"that the restructure of the Council be approved in principle
for one year's trial."
The Executive Staff of the Council at its fall retreat, suggested
further alterations in structure in order to give greater unity,
coordination and thrust to the programme of the Council while
maintaining sufficient flexibility and diversity to accomplish the
task. Following suggestions of the staff, the Executive Committee
recommended on 24th March, 1969 the following proposals to the
Annual General Meeting:
A. Auxiliary Organizations
That auxiliary organizations maintain their present powers
and authorities but be accountable to the Hong Kong Christian
Council in the following ways.
(1) The Director of the auxiliary body should be appointed by
the Christian Council upon nomination of the ex-auxiliary
committee.
(2) The budgets, constitution, revisions in constitution and
major changes in policy should be submitted to the Council
for approval.
(3) There should be regular reports on the progress of the work
and an annual audited account be submitted.
(4) The Christian Council should name two members of the
executive committee to the board or committee of the
auxiliary organization.
