denominations, in any way possible in planning the extension of
their work, and particularly in acquiring new sites and building
new chnrches, and secondly to strengthen the whole church, as
represented by the denomindtions taking part, in planning the work
of the church in Hong Kong so as to ensure that tho work of the church
is as widespread in the Colony as possible.
The Committee feels bound to say that unless the churches are
willing to give strong support and to make good use of the services
of this Committee it cannot go any further. The driving force must
come directly from the churches themselves.

             4. Church Unity Committee

The year under review started with moving signs of increasing
sympathy and understanding between the Roman Catholic and Protestant
churches during the Week of Prayer for Church Unity. The Council
acted as joint sponsors with the Roman Catholic Church for a joint
meeting in expounding the Bible and Prayer together on l8th January,
1966 at the City Hall during the Unity Week, A Bible Exhibition
was held in April at the City Hall and repeated at Kowloon Union
Church. It was sponsored jointly by the Bible Societies on behalf
of Protestants and by the Studium Biblicum on behalf of Roman
                  Catholics, and aroused great interest.

Local Consultation on "Confessing the Faith in Asia To-day"

Under the auspices of the Council, this local Consioltation
was held on Wednesday, 3rd November, 1965 at the Chinese Methodist
Church with the Rev. Alan Brash as key speaker. Fifty-three local
church leaders participated in the Consultation. The participants
were then divided into three discussion groups and there were
creative discussions. Findings of the Consultation will be sent to
the churches for further discussion and action.
