CONCLUSION
God did not create man for life in isolation, but for the
formation of a unity. From the beginning of salvation history
God has chosen men, not just as individuals, but as members of a
community. One of the primary purposes of the Hong Kong Christian
Council is "to be a symbol of unity among Christian forces and to
promote that unity".
Over the year the Christian Council has worked hard to make
Jesus Christ visible to the community. This is expressed through
our member churches participation and support in such programmes as
social services 3 industrial and urban missions and caring for the
sick and the elderly. During the year, the Council has also
demonstrated its concern for human suffering in Asia by raising
funds for the relief of world hunger, and holding prayer meetings
to pray for those who suffer from the violation of human rights.
Today, more than ever before, it is necessary that under the guidance
of the Holy Spirit, the churches of Hong Kong, with joint concern,
energy and a sense of urgency, join hands to erase every cause of
human suffering and human divisions, so that our community and the
whole human race may be led to the unity of Jesus Christ.
For the warm fellowship among our Christians in Hong Kong and
overseas, for the continued support of our member churches and
organizations, for the support of many overseas churches, for the
loyal services of all Christian Council staff, we offer our thanks.
We rejoice at the opportunity and challenge of working together in
witnessing to the living Christ. Let us continue to stay together,
grow together and to witness to the risen Lord under the sign of His
Cross. We look forward to the new year with courage and faith.
