workers in Hong Kong. This was held on 19th April, 1969. The
theme chosen was "Youth Looks At The Church Today”. An essay
contest on the same subject was organized in conjunction with
the Consultation. Sixty church youth and leaders participated
in the Consultation.
During the year the Committee arranged meetings for several
visitors. They included Mr. D. P. Niles from EACC, Mr. Larry Cheah
and Mr. Eliezer Mapanoa from EACC and NCC respectively. Discussions
were held to exchange ideas on youth work between committee members
and the visitors.
Since all the committee members were heavily laden with work in
their own fields it was impossible for the committee to undertake any
major projects or often direct services for the churches. However,
it provided an excellent opportunity for Christian Youth workers from
various churches and Christian organizations to share their problems
and exchange ideas and to suggest problem solving methods in the
Christian spirit. In view of the possibility of having a Programme
Secretary for the Committee, it is almost certain that the work of
Youth Committee will gradually build up and give better service
to churches of Hong Kong.
Christian Centre Management Committee
The duties of the Committee are:
(1) To arrange for monthly collection of maintenance fees from
constituent bodies occupying space in the Centre.
(2) To arrange for payment of all charges for which the Centre is
responsible.
(3) To arrange for a special ecumenical library fund.
(A) To arrange for a long term plan for premium provision.
(3) To arrange for the investment of surplus funds.
(6) To advise the Hong Kong Christian Council Executive Committee
concerning the supervision of the maintenance care of the Centre.
We are pleased to report that during the year, an increasing
number of Christian groups have come to use the Christian Centre
facilities for holding a total of 244 meetings and several consultations.
The Ministers and Clergy's fellowship whose members composed of both
Roman Catholics and Protestants have also come to use the Centre’s
Conference Room for their regular meetings. The Department of Extramural
Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong was also requested the
Council for permission to use the Conference Room for holding evening
sessions. (2 evenings a week) it is our hope that this Christian
Centre may continue to be a place of Christian witness and service as
well as a Centre of Christian nurture in international and interdenomina-
tional relations.
World Day of Prayer Committee
The World Day of Prayer Committee has one main purpose, to promote
and arrange the World Day of Prayer Service, which was, and will be in
future, held on the first Friday in March. This date was fixed by
the International Committee and will be observed throughout the World,
unless the local situation makes alteration necessary. The Committee,
here, in Hong Kong is a joint bi-lingual one, with bi-linguaL o-Chairman,
C
and Secretaries plus a Treasurer.
In planning the service as many denominations as possible are
included. In January 1969 a Promotion service was held to which all
Churches were invited to send two representatives. Approximately,
70 people were present from about 50 different Churches and the final
