assist the churches, as separate denominations, in any way possible
in planning the extension of their work, and particularly in acquiring
new sites and building new churches, and secondly to strengthen the
whole church, as represented by the denominations taking part, in
planning the work of the church in Hong Kong so as to ensure that the
work of the church is as widespread in the Colony as possible."

Since its inception the Committee has been occupied with the
                following concerns:

                      a. Arranging consultations between churches when they plan to
develop their programmes in newly-developed areas so as to
avoid overlapping and give as wide coverage as possible.

                      b. Exploring ways and means of learning about plans for major
population moves at as early a stage as possible in order
to be able to plan ahead realistically with the building of
new churches. The Committee is only at the beginning of its
work, but given proper and responsible support it believes
that it can be a most useful servant to the Church and the
                          Kingdom.

                Christian Family Life Promotion Committee
"The family lives in a world of rapid change and constantly needs
to rediscover the effective ways and means of fulfilling its God-given
purpose". Bearing this in mind, the Committee, during this year has
tried to widen its scope and sought to see more clearly how to bring
before the whole Church this concern and to discover how more effectively
it can help the Church in its ministry to families, Christian and non-
                Christian.

A public meeting was held on May 11th, 1963 in the Chinese Methodist
Church, Kowloon. About 300 attended. The Rev. Wong Tsok spoke on,
"The Christian Home in a time of rapid social change." Devotions were
                led by Mr. Calvin Ngai.

During the year our main concerns have been:-

                      1. The preparation of materials for use in churches and Christian
Organizations in conjunction with Christian Family Life Week
Studies and discussion groups. The draft of the materials is
ready for use in the Consultation (see below), during which
wo hope suggestions and criticisms will help to prepare the
final draft for publication and use as soon as possible.

                      2. The planning of a Consultation on "Family Life" which took
place on 19th March, 1964. 44 leaders from local churches
wft?. are involving themselves in the promotion of Christian
Family Life participated in the Consultation. It is hoped
that out of the creative thinking and enthusiastic discussions
will come insights and direction that will help the future
work of the Committee, and help the churches and other
organizations in this particular ministry to families. The
Committee has 15 members and has met bi-monthly.

Three members attended the Consultation on Responsible Parenthood
sponsored by the East Asia Christian Conference held in Bangkok in
               February, 1964.

               Church Unity Committee
                     a. The Joint Prayer Meeting for Christian Unity was held on 20th
January, 1964 at 8:00 P.M. at the Chinese Methodist Church, Hong Kong.
The Council had sent 1000 invitations to local church ministers and
