II. LOCAL ARRANGEMENT FOR INTER-CHURCH-AID CONSULTATION
The first Asian Consultation on Inter-Church-Aid under the joint
auspices of World Council of Churches and East Asia Christian Conference
held its sessions at Tao Fong Shan, Shatin, N.T. Hong Kong, during 17-23
October, 1963. About 80 church leaders who are involved in this field
of ICA attended the Consultation. They came from every country in Asia.

The purpose of this gathering was to study and review the ICA
programmes in Asia related to the sponsoring bodies, and to do so
particularly in the light of the new thinking summed up in two recent
series of Asian gatherings - the Situation Conferences in Madras, Tokyo
and Singapore, with their call to Joint Action for Missions; and the
Consultations on New Forms of Service, with their plea for service by
Christian participation in the life of their nation and community.

This was the first meeting of this kind held in Asia. It therefore,
afforded the Asian Churches a significant advantage in that they provided
the majority of participants in the Consultation where ICa programmes
             were discussed.

The whole conversation proved very helpful to those responsible for
the task of seeking to minister to human need in this ecumenical enterprise.
The Hong Kong Christian Council, together with the Christian Welfare &
Relief Council, as host organizations had the privilege of helping to
arrange this important regional consultation in Asia.

sibilities in our local situation and developing the desire for further
