V. WORK OF STANDING COMMITTEES
1. Christian Citizenship Movement Committee During the year the
Committee has been
actively engaged in the Christian Citizenship Movement. In spite of
limited resources and personnel we are able to report the following
a ctivities:-
a) Publishing of the radio talks
Radio talks broadcast during the year 1961 were written
and published by the Wah Kiu Yat Po press regularly.
b) Tape interview
It was thought that special interviews of Christian
social a ctivities in Hongkong recorded on tape for
broadcasting w ill be most useful.
To date we have recorded interviews with the Superinten-
dent and workers of Rural and Forestry Resettlement
Project at Chu Lap Kok island and the Church of Christ
in China Chuk Yuen Centre.
c) ■ Cartoons
We have a set of 50 cartoons entitled "Good Citizenship
Cartoons" depicting with captions the negative and
positive aspects of citizenship. An anonymous donor
in New York generously contributed US$200 towards the
printing of these cartoons; and it is hoped that they
w ill be popular among school-children not only in Hong
Kong but in South East Asia.
d) Photo Contest and exhibition
A photographic contest with the object of a citizenship
photo exhibition later on was held early in March in
co-operation with the Wah Kiu Yat Po, There were 305
entries and 13 prize winners. Seventy photographs were
selected for exhibition, and displayed in one of the
Lecture Rooms at the City Hall from April 5th to 7th.
Lady Black, the wife o f the Governor was asked to
distribute prizes. There were over 10,000 visitors
for the three day period.
