E. The United Christian Medical Service

1. Introduction:

The United Christian Hospital started operation in 1973. The new extension block, Sir Run Run Shaw
Building (Block S) has come into operation since September 1995. The redevelopment of the old hospital block
(Block P) has been completed. At present, there are more than 1,200 beds and that number will increase to over
1,400 beds upon the full opening of the two hospital blocks (Block S & Block P).

With the hospital motto “With Christian Love We Care, With Excellence We Serve” in mind and to meet
the strategic direction of the hospital “To Become A Community-Oriented Tertiary Hospital of the 21st Century”,
United Christian Hospital is committed to provide a comprehensive quality health service for the Eastern Kowloon
Community.
