D. Hong Kong Christian Service
1. Introduction:
The Hong Kong Christian Service is a non-profit social service organization started in 1952. HKCS
recipients range from children to the elderly regardless of their sex, social status, religion or culture. Through
more than 60 service units located all over the territory, the Service provides different kinds of quality services
for the citizens of Hong Kong.
The main types of service include: social centers for the elderly and elderly hostels, home help service,
children and youth centers, outreaching and school social work, integrated team, individual and family counseling,
drug rehabilitation, clinic, day care centers, youth and adult vocational training programs, courses for the elderly,
audio visual production, and retreat center.
Besides, the Service provides residential services and education for the physically and mentally handi-
capped and arranges for children who have family problems to live temporarily in suitable homes. The Service
also help residents in the temporary housing and public estates to deal with their housing problems and assists
employers to develop suitable employee welfare and training programs, etc.
