ALICE, HO MUI LING, NETHERSOLE HOSPITAL
This hospital is one of the oldest in Hong Kong.
It will celebrate its first centenary in 1887.
However, it must be noted that the average
occupancy of the hospital during the past year was
only 75%. Reasons for this low occupancy included
competition from other nearby hospitals, overcrowded
wards and clinics, the increased traffic noise and road
dust. These all discouraged potential patients.
The hospital had earlier submitted to government
several proposals for reconstruction and moderniza
tion. These were rejected because they were
considered to be too expensive. The hospital is now
exploring other less costly possibilities.
The Community Nursing Services, covering the SUNNYSIDE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

CHRISTIAN FAMILY SERVICE CENTRE
The goal of the C. F. S. C. are as follows:—
1. To manifest God's love as revealed in Jesus
Christ, so that all shall know their dignity and self-
worth as God's children.
2. To protect and enhance family life, to build a
healthy relationship with needy people, and to provide
an atmosphere in which growth and change can take
place.
3. To improve the climate of living for all Kwun
Tong families through participation in community
social action.
During the past year there were two major
changes at the Centre (a) Miss Doris Caldwell, who
had been with the Centre for almost 30 years, retired
at the end of September, (b) Because of changing
situations and needs, particularly with regard to
staffing, the Centre closed its handicraft department
at the end of December.
