In additio n , the Radio Department was also asked by the Christian Citizen-
s h ip Movement Committee. of the Hongkong Christian Counc i l to make available
its. techn ica l personnel and fa c ilitie s fo r the production of a series of 15-
minutes programme of interviews which would serve to introduce the various
educational and welfare institutions maintained and supported by Christian
organizations, to the radio listening public.
In October, a Studio Quartet was organized employing loca l talents under
the direction of Mrs. Helen Chen, who also doubled as Accompanist. This
Quartet was so selected that they could sing on sight in any one of the three
major Chinese dialects - M andarin, Cantonese and Amoy. Weekly recording
sessions were held during the last three months of the yea r , which
contributed much towards sto ck-piling o f recorded hymns fo r the Studio.
The Radio Department wishes to take this opportunity to thank you fo r
your support, and to extend its invitation to a ll members of the Churches
a ffilia te d with Audio Visual Evangelism Committee and the Hongkong Christian
Council to volunteer their talents and services as a rtists, w riters, drama
t is ts , and musicians to join our ’’Christian Army of the Air” , to help us
convince the Church leaders of the importance of this radio ministry, and
to make our mission of evangelizing the vast unreached Chinese listeners
via the air waves a greater success!
A WORD OF THANKS The Hongkong Christian Council wishes to thank the
Churches for their active participation and co-operation
in this ecumenical movement. For a ll those busy m inisters, hard-working
laymen and women who help in the work which mentioned in this report we give
thanks.
We would wish to record our gratitude to the Chinese Y.M.C.A., the Y.W.C. A. ,
the European Y.M.C.A., the Kowloon Union Church, the Chinese Churches Union,
the Kowloon Methodist Church for the use of their Committee Rooms for our
regular Committee a ctiv itie s. Equal gratitude is given to our friends both
local and abroad, for g ifts and financial support which they have contributed
to strengthen our work.
Finally the Council wishes to thank a ll those organizations and friends
who have contributed to the preparation of this report.
