Position of HKCC on the Bible Smuggling Case Re: Lai Kwong-keung

We encourage Christians in Hong Kong to relate with Christians in Mainland China within the context of
the legal boundaries prescribed by the Chinese authorities. As we share our resources with Christians in Main-
land China, we channel such resources in accordance with established regulations.
We accept that there are various translated versions of the Bible to meet the demands of the changing
times. The authority of any version of the Bible translated from the original languages should be decided solely
by the Church.
In a pluralistic society, religious groups should be respected (including newly developed religions). Within
Christianity, we respect different traditions and denominations. We value unity, not uniformity.
We hope that the Chinese Government is open to different religious groups. We hope that the Government
respects diverse expressions among religious communities.
