Y M C A  o f H ong K ong.   M any H ong K ong   relationship  w ith  the  church  in  C hina in the
      church  leaders  and  m em bers  o f  the  C C A    past  m any  years.   Since  the  form ation  o f
      G eneral  C om m ittee  representing  different   the   H ong   K ong/M ainland   L iaison
      A sian  countries  jo in ed   together  for  this   C om m ittee,  the  C ouncil  has  prom oted

      C hrist  in  C hina,  the  P resbyterian  C hurch  in   churches  in  H ong  K ong  and  m ainland
      T aiw an m ade  a visit to  H ong K ong  and m et   C hina.

      H ong K ong and Taiw an.
                                                     Project  N ehem iah  is  a  church-building

      em phasizing  strongly  religious  freedom   in   {2)Yunfu:  Yaogu Church
      H ong  K ong.   T he  G eneral  Secretary  also   (3)Guangxi:  Luocheng Qiaoshan Church
      extended  w elcom e  to  the  A ssem bly  on   (4)Lijiang Renhe:  Zhidudi Church
      b e h a lf o f the  C ouncil  and  participated  as  a   {5)Xishuangbanna:  M engla Church
      speaker  at  the  O pen  F orum   on  the  C hurch   (6)Lufen Renxing:  Laziqing Church
      in  C hina on July  12,  1997,  suggesting som e   (l)Dongchuan:  Buqia Church
      principles  and  guidelines  as  references  for   (8)Luqin  Yunlong:  Dongdao Church
      the  future  relationship  betw een  churches  in
      H ong K ong and C hina.                        T he  D edication  service  o f the  B eiw an
                                                     C hurch  took  place  on  N ovem ber  23,
      T he  W orld  C ouncil  o f  C hurches  w ill  hold   1996  w ith  a  delegation  from   H K C C
      its  8th  A ssem bly  D ecem ber  3-14,  1998  in   attending.   P roject   N ehem iah
      H arare,  Z im babw e,  celebrating  its  50th   W alkathon on February 23,  1997 raised
      anniversary.   It  is  hoped  that  churches  in   H K $1,100,000.
      H ong  K ong  can  send  representatives  and
      observers  to  the  A ssem bly  for  building   2.   Jointly  invited  by  the  C ouncil  and  the
      m utual  cooperation  in  relationship  w ith  the   L utheran   T heological   S em inary,   a
      ecum enical m ovem ent w orldw ide.            delegation   o f   six   m em bers   o f

      WCC SCHOLARSHIP                                H ong  K ong  O ctober  22-28,   1996.
                                                     B esides  visiting  som e  churches  and
      T here  w as  no  one  from   H ong  K ong     organizations,   the   delegation   also
      applying  for  the  W C C   scholarship  for  the   attended  the  C o u n cil’s  42nd  A G M .
      year  96/97.   F or  those  w ho  are  interested   A nd  also,  the  w orkshop  o f  the  A G M
      in  applying  for  a  scholarship - for  1998,   w ith  the  them e  “D ialogue  betw een  the
      please  apply  through  the  C o u n cil’s  office   C hina  and  H ong  K ong  church  leaders”
      by O ctober  15,  1997.                        w as  held  O ctober  25,  at  the  W ard
                                                     M em orial M ethodist C hurch.
