D.3. Audio Visual Evangilism Committee (Cont’d)

The July 7th letter from RAVEMCCO confirmed their decision to
approve'the "Pilot Project" for Hongkong, and provide the funds
requested. What a great stimulus to our thought and hopes that Pilot
            Project has been!

                   We have been greatly encouraged by the v i s i t s o f M r .
Mathew Ogawa, Dr. Henry Mack, Dr. B. Duke and later by the visits of the
Executive Secretary, Rev. Barnerd M. Luben and Rev. Frederick Wilson
of the Presbyterian Church. We heard of the fine work being done in
Korea and Japan; and we trust that the SEA Radio Project may soon
get underway through the providing of a larger transmitter in Dumaguete,
            Philippines.

The Audio-Visual work has been carried on with the same seal and
devotion at in the past. The staff remain practically the same plus
the new faces of Mr. Danny Ng (1/2 time) and Mr. Thomas Cheng - giving
            some time.

The total of number of shcwings is about the same - just under
800 for the year. The attendance is also about the same - just under
130,000. However, the month of December saw a great upsurge with
100 showings or 1/8 of the total for the year and an audience total
of some 24,000 or 1/5.4 of the total. The increase in the number of
films w i t h Cantonese script on the film has helped to make this
            ministry more attractive and effective.

The number of new films this year is 17, with 33 filmstrips added.
The printing of a fine new catalogue was a major effort. This has
given our menbers and others a better knowledge of the kind of films
we have, their length and something of the contents.

Lack of personnel still handicaps our work. But Mr. Thomas Cheng
came to us unexpectedly to help with the radio and Audio-Visual programme.
And Dr. Henry Mack in our studio has already given valuable advice and
            generous assistance.

          E . A Word of Thanks
The Hongkong Christian Council desires to express and to place on
record its profound gratitude to the people who have made the work
possible. Although it would be impossible to supply a full list, the
Council is extremely grateful to the busy ministers, hard-working
laymen and women, missionaries and lively young people whose help has
            been invaluable.

We have to thank the churches for their participation and coopera-
            tion in this ecumenical movement.

We would wish to record our gratitude to the European Y.M.C.A.,
the Chinese Y.M.C.A. and the Y.W.C.A. for the use of their Committee
Rooms for our regular Committee Meetings. Equal gratitute is given to
our friends, both local and abroad, for gifts and financial support
which they have contributed to strengthen our work.

The Council wishes to extend grateful thanks to Mr. S. Y. Lee who
has been for the past seven years serving concurrently as the Executive
Secretary of the Christian Council as well as the Relief Council with
no emolument. He is asked to continue his assistance whenever and
wherever there is such a need. Finally the Council wishes to thank
all those organizations and friends who have contributed to the pre-
             paration of this report.
