5• Inter-Church Aid
In Christ there is no East or West. The Morrocan disaster of the
Agadir earthquake equally appalled us, even though we had just had the Japanese
typhoon Vera. The first response of HK $400 came from the Swatow Baptist
Church; there was nothing unusual to it except that 8 5 % of this money came from
subscriptions of the Swatow refugees who themselves lived in a deplorable con-
dition. A total of $585 was collected and sent through the EACC Inter-Church
Aid Department. The East Pakistan Cyclone disaster relief was collected during
Christmas. This was to show how much the churches and schools responded to
Christian love and sympathy and $850 was received. For the World Refugee
Year we have collected $1,314.90 to be spent locally.
